Ken Berry appears to be claiming three councillors have cost the village $85,000 in legal fees because they did not attend ad hoc meetings he improperly called. This is reminiscent of his ongoing 2023 claims that only one signature had been the norm on municipal cheques until he became the mayor. Although this was debunked early on and confirmed in the 2022 audit management letter he never ‘fessed up to his error.

Former councillor Marcus Reuter had this to say:

This was a particularly infuriating period of my time on council. The bank had informed us two signatures had always been required and applied in the office and yet Ken Berry kept pushing the opposite false narrative as part of his “drain the swamp” rhetoric. Similarly, his $85,000 claim is utterly unfounded but is of course now being perpetuated by his acolytes. It beggars belief that this item even made it onto the agenda and in an open meeting, no less. Moreover, when you know the cast of characters you recognize their MO: the report has Broughton written all over it.

It’s clear Berry and Broughton have never had anything constructive to offer and the ongoing bullying and defamatory allegations are designed to distract residents from their own failures. All they’ve managed to deliver is skyrocketing costs, budget overruns, unauthorized spending and breathtakingly questionable hires at staff. I think it’s also obvious to most they are actively involved in the toxic social media campaign that has been so damaging and divisive.

It wouldn’t be unfair to say that I can’t think of a single positive contribution they’ve made to our community. Their behavior is of course in breach of both the oath of office and code of conduct, and has been since day one.
